10 Innovative Indoor Games for Kids

  • Rainbow Scavenger Hunt:
    • Fun: We hide the colored objects around the room, and by giving kids hints about the color and places where the object is hidden, we ask kids to find items corresponding to each color of the rainbow.
    • Learning: This helps develop color and object name recognition, coordination, and critical thinking in kids.
  • Musical Statues with Emotions:
    • Fun: We play various kinds of music, and when it stops, kids freeze in a pose that shows a particular emotion (happy, sad, surprised). Kids enjoy this game.
    • Learning: This adds a layer of emotional understanding and how kids associate different music with feelings and emotions, giving a new twist to the classic game.
  • Alphabet Hopscotch:
    • Fun: Kids love hopping and jumping and that is why we have Alphabet Hopscotch. We tape letters of the alphabet on the floor in a hopscotch format. Kids hop on the letter we called out,
    • Learning: The game helps kids recognize letters and also gives them physical workout sessions and improves balance.
  • Story Time Charades
    • Fun: In story time charades we make teams A and B and ask kids to play characters of the story. They act out short stories or fairy tales, and Kids from the other team must guess what’s being acted.
    • Learning: This enhances their imagination, creativity, listening, and storytelling skills.
  • Shape Sorting Maze
    • Fun: Another fun game is Shape Sorting Maze in which we create a floor maze with tape and scatter different shapes around. The kids navigate the maze to find and sort shapes into corresponding baskets.

  • Animal Yoga
    • Fun: We teach kids simple yoga poses that resemble animals (like cats, dogs, snakes). Kids love physical games and making fun poses without knowing they are doing yoga.

    • Fun: We use balloons and paper plate paddles to play a game of tennis indoors. It is a fun and exciting game with lightweight balloon balls that little kids love playing with.
