Kradle 2 Krayons

Ingredients:   makes 18 – 20 cookies

180g plain flour

125g rolled oats

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp baking soda

½ cup softened butter,

¼ tsp salt

1 egg

155g light brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 big apple, finely chopped, tossed in with lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, stir together:

    • Flour

    • Oats

    • Cinnamon

    • Baking soda

    • Salt

  3. Cream butter and sugar: In another bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until well combined.

  4. Add egg and vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

  5. Combine mixtures: Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.

  6. Fold in apples: Add chopped apples and mix gently to incorporate.

  7. Scoop and shape: Scoop out portions of the cookie dough and drop them onto lined baking trays. Space the cookies 5–7 cm apart and lightly flatten them with your fingers or a spoon.

  8. Bake: Bake for 15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the tray before serving or transferring to a wire rack.
