Speech and language are important parts of interaction. Parents play a crucial role in helping develop their children’s linguistic abilities in their early lives. Here are a few tips for parents that can help nurture the language ability of your little ones.
- Read more often to your little one: Reading will help kids get comfortable with phonetics and words, even if they do not understand their meanings.
- Stories: Bedtime stories will improve their words, will develop their imagination and motivate creativity.
- Listen to songs: Songs with lyrics that are sung and pronounced clearly are not only beneficial to your child’s speech development but will also increase his/her interest in the music.
- Have more frequent verbal conversation: When you talk to your child, he or she will try to respond back to you. This will give them more confidence and practice.
- Softly correct errors: Instead of making fun of any mistakes, try to correct it gently by repeating the words with it’s correct diction.
