Our preschool room follows a play-based, emergent curriculum with a flexible routine that includes progressive meals and indoor/outdoor play. Our curriculum highly values ‘Child’s voice’ and the educators involve the children for their own learning in a variety of ways that are meaningful for them.
Our preschool learning environment is set up with opportunities for the children to develop skills to build on their relationships and friendships and to learn how to invite themselves into play. Our learning environment also support in developing good communication skills and building their confidence and vocabulary, so they are able to express their needs and concerns.
The Program consists of a combination of a play-based curriculum as well as some more formal Intentional Teaching group times. The play-based curriculum provides children with an opportunity to develop skills that will be beneficial to them when starting school, such as developing a sense of belonging, social skills necessary for group participation, responding to and coping with change. The intentional teaching groups helps children to develop fine, gross motor & cognitive skills, name recognition, writing, reading & comprehension, numeracy skills, self-sufficiency and following instructions, routines & other classroom behaviors.
